How Can A Person Be Saved From Sin?

Sin is the greatest human problem. It is the severing of harmony between the Holy God and human beings. The breaking of that harmony leads to the gradual degeneration of man and the ultimate separation from God, our life source, which ends in eternal death.

1 John 3:4 explains that "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

This breaking of God's rule or law (both outward actions and inward impurity) leads to death:  Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

This sin problem affects all of us: Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Sin even affects Nature: Romans 8:22  "For we know that the whole creation groans and labours with birth pangs together until now."

Everyone is saved through the grace and merits of Jesus' sacrifice on behalf of humans.

John 3:16 - 17  "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." KJV

Ephesians 2:8  "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

We are saved when we exercise faith in Jesus, repent and commit to Him through baptism.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:28

"And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:15-16.

When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we are freed from condemnation - Romans 8:1

God puts His laws in our minds (heart) - Hebrews 10:16-17 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more

God transforms us and grants us the Holy Spirit - Ezekiel 36:26-27 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Acts 5:32 "And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

We are enabled to live consecrated Spirit Filled lives - Romans 8:4, Galatians 5:16-26
